Mom's day

This blog has fallen horribly out of date!  I am so sorry to all my devoted readers (all three of you).  I will try desperately to do better for you all.

One of my favorite traditions in our little family is Mother's Day and Father's Day photos.  We nearly missed it this year!  We ended up going outside after the big kids were already in pajamas.  We still had a fun photo shoot, with Squish grinning the whole time, the big kids goofing (the way they always do) and mama, just looking like....a mom.

I am so proud of all three of these kids.  Lil G, at 8 years old, is at a hard stage.  He wants to be a young man but in so many ways, he is such a little kid.  His reading is exploding, he loves riding his bike and drawing, and he has a lovely kind spirit.

Smunchie, at 5, is her own person.  She has killer dance moves, lovely penmanship, and so much imagination.  Of course, with that imagination also comes big feelings, that she's learning to channel appropriately.

Squish.  Our Squish.  He has had a hard time, due to chronic ear infections.  But my oh my....that little boy has such personality and such a winning smile.  He is so easy going!  I wish he would grow up a little slower but I can't wait to see who he becomes.

I am so blessed to mother these kids.  They make me a better person, while also pushing me to the brink of insanity each and every day.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Mother's Day 2013

Mother's Day was a pretty quiet event in our house.  We spent time with my (Erin's) family.  It was fun and relaxing-just what this mama ordered!  We took some time to take our traditional Mother's Day photos.  And, per tradition, it was a bit difficult to get Lil G to act "normal".

On Saturday, Greg and Lil G went shopping for my present.  Lil G tried but had a hard time keeping the gift a surprise.  All day long, he kept saying things like, "Mama, which car did you take to run errands? You didn't see your plant present in the back, did you?" and 
"Mama, I'm not going to tell you anything else about your plant present but can I put the small one in my room?" and finally, 
"Mama, did you want to know about your plant?"

We finally gave in and opened the gift on Saturday.  And you know what? I now have two beautiful plants to hang in my kitchen and family rooms. 

Mother's Day

This last Sunday was Mother's day.  My fourth Mother's day as a mom, as a matter of fact.  As is our tradition, we took pictures of mama, with all her kiddos, even though Lil G was having trouble complying and Smunchie was a little fussy.  But, these are definitely snapshots of our life--not quite perfect, but ideal anyway. 

Love you, my little people.  You are two of the best things in my world.

Mother's day and sleeping in own room

Mother's day was wonderful in the Fish home. We pretty much celebrated on Saturday. Greg and Lil G worked together to get me some wonderful gifts. One was sentimental and one was fun. I really cannot believe that I am a mother this year. Lil G has been such a blessing in my life and I look at him every day in amazement. It is so strange to think that something so perfect came from someone as imperfect as me :-)



Lil G had a big night last night. For the first time, he slept in his room all by himself. This was nerve-racking for Greg and myself. I had the baby monitor up so loud that I am pretty sure I could have heard a pin drop in the nursery. Eventually, I mellowed a bit and Greg and I got some sleep. Lil G seemed to enjoy his room. He loves looking at the kite and hot air balloons.
