First nap in his crib.

This is Gavin's first nap in his crib. He slept really well (about 40 min) and woke up (relatively) happy.

Going for a Jog

Now that it's getting cooler outside in the morning, Gavin gets to be all bundled for our morning job. A hoodie and babylegs will keep you nice and warm.

First Cereal

Today, Gavin had his first taste of rice cereal. He seemed to enjoy it, though he spent a lot of time trying to figure out what he was eating. At the end, he started grabbing the spoon to help out mommy!!

Hanging out with Opa and Gogie

Miller Park Zoo and Park

Gavin took his first trip to Miller Park Zoo. He hung out in the stroller most of the time but did take some time out to look at different animals.

Gavin checks out the sea lions. Then we went to the petting zoo. One of the goats had just had babies a few weeks ago, so Gavin got to meet some other kids.



Daddy and Gavin took some time out to check out the goat's mommy. It's important to give the mommies props!







Then, Gavin headed back to the stroller and enjoyed looking at the potbelly pig and "domestic chickens" through the fence.


After the zoo, we headed over to Miller Park playground, and Gavin got to play on the swings. Daddy and mommy each took turns pushing him and he had a grand time.

Travelin' Gavin

This Thursday and Friday marked the first overnight trip for Gavin. The whole family traveled up north, toward our old stompin' ground. Wembley stayed at her favorite place (aside from being with us, of course), at Deenie's Bed and Biscuit, where she can run and play with other dogs.

We left Thursday morning and traveled up north at a relatively slow pace (the only pace that one can travel at, with a soon-to-be-six-month old in tow). We went all the way up to Lake Geneva. We ate at one of our favorite places, Popeye's (not the chicken joint) and then Gavin enjoyed his food-stuffs sitting out, watching the boats at the beach. We wandered all around the town, looking at the little shoppes, including our favorite wine shoppe and the little Irish shoppe that we enjoy.

One of the neat things about Lake Geneva are the festively decorated carousel horses around town. They have different artists design them and then they sell for them. Gavin and Greg posed with the horse in front of Pop More Corks.

Eventually, we traveled southward toward Gurnee, which was where our hotel was located. We went to Gurnee Mills and stocked up on some baby stuff, since babies GROW and therefore, need more stuff. Gavin was very good natured during the entire time, especially once he got to play with his new favorite carseat toy- Mommy's water bottle!

After we went to the mall, we headed to the hotel to have dinner from our favorite Chinese restaurant (yeah take-out)! Gavin had his first "big boy" bath, with no little tub. He loved sitting up in the big tub and splashing. Then it was off to bed!







On Friday, we checked out of the hotel and went down to Schaumburg, to go to our favorite store- IKEA!! We got all sorts of lovely things, including a crib/toddler bed for Gavin. After Ikea, we headed back home to the peace and quiet of our house. We had a great and relaxing adventure and it was fun to conquer the hurdle of traveling with a little one, no matter how short the trip.

This is the amount of stuff that one needs to travel overnight with a soon-to-be-six-month old baby. Oh, and the baby. The baby is there too.

I think this is so beautiful

Probably just me but there is something so simple and lovely about Gavin's diapers, drying in the sunshine.

Teething!

Gavin is cutting his first tooth. The little guy is such a trooper! We wouldn't even know that it was happening if we didn't see the little bud in his mouth. We have such a good baby.

A name plaque for Gavin

Mommy painted a special sign for Gavin's door. He had a lot of fun checking out her handy work.
