Speech School

 Last Thursday was Lil G's first day back at Speech School.  He goes two times a week, to work on his pronunciation.  He was so excited to head back to school and start where he left off last May!

Last Day of School

 Lil G had his last day of school at the end of May.  As many of you know, Lil G has a phonological speech delay.  Because of this, he was involved in the Phonology class at his local school.  We were so blessed for him to be in the class, with his wonderful teachers.

At the end of the year, the class had a "Beach Party".  Lil G was quite excited to go and play with all of his friends and teachers.

Lil G has been working on the final 'p' sound at school.  On Thursday, practiced looping Fruit Loops on a necklace.  He was pretty excited :-)

Bus Bound Boy

 While Tuesday was Lil G's first day of school, he didn't ride the school bus until Thursday.  He was terribly excited to board the bus and be on his way.  I, on the other hand, had a small panic attack.  It's so hard to let them grow up!

PreK

Today was Lil G's first day of PreK.  Most of you know that Lil G has a phonological delay of speech.  Basically, he has a crazy number of words but he doesn't always pronounce them well.  So, he is headed to a class here in town that focuses on his condition.  The awesome thing is, everyone in the class has the same issues that he has:  they are all completely normal cognitively but have some issues with pronouncing their words.

Today was very bittersweet for me.  I love spending time with my little man but I know that he has to grow up.  This is an intrical part of that process.  So, it is a necessary transition for our family.

Lil G was very excited about the first day of school..  Clearly, excited and nervous, judging by how wacky he was acting this morning.  He is generally a good listener (for a three year old) but this morning, he was having major difficulties.  But, we perservered and he was extremely excited to go to class with his teachers.  No tears or shyness around here!

Swimmin' Fish

On Thursday, Lil G had his first swimming lesson WITHOUT mama.  He had to go into the pool with just his teacher.  He also had to wait patiently on the side of the pool for his turn--quite a feat for a toddler!  

He did great!  He was a good listener and showed again how fearless he is in the pool.

Lil G's first day of "School"

Today, our little man had his first day of "school". Not really school, per se. Actually, it was the Morning out for Moms program at Calvary Baptist (daddy's alma mater!). The program is run much like a preschool, with a focus on letters, colors and numbers, as well as bible verses. Plus, it is a nice intro to the school environment, without a lot of pressure, as G only has 3 classmates!

It meets one time a week and allows da mama to get errands done, toddler-free! Lil G seemed to have a great time. He was so proud to go and get his picture taken for the first day of "school".
